Burr Yacht Sales is the East Coast distributor for Fleming Yachts, builder of the Fleming 55, 65, & 75 pilothouse motoryacht. While often the Fleming yachts are referred to as trawlers, Tony Fleming will argue that he builds a Pilothouse Motoryacht. He draws the distinction between pilothouse motoryachts and trawlers by pointing out that the Fleming uses a semi-displacement hull design which allows the boats to reach speeds close to 20 knots and cruise at 17 knots. Even with the difference in speed, many people still refer to the Fleming lineup as trawlers because of their classic design and traditional looks. Flemings do indeed feature characteristics similar to trawlers with their dedicated pilothouse, spacious cockpit, as well as an efficient hull design that allows the yacht to cruise at 10 knots while burning 10gallons per hour. The end result is a yacht that is exceptionally seaworthy and designed to roam far and wide while providing outstanding levels of luxury, safety, and comfort to the liveaboard cruiser.
