Moving forward along the port side of the salon is large L-shaped settee, in off-white Ultraleather, which wraps inboard along the edge of the galley counter top. Complimenting this settee is a custom teak adjustable table that can adjust in height and position to function as both a coffee or a dining table.

The starboard side features a cabinetry at the aft corner, followed by an additional settee with a 60” Samsung HD TV installed on a retractable lift behind the back of the off-white Ultraleather settee. Another smaller adjustable teak table compliments this starboard settee as well. Continuing forward along the starboard side is another storage cabinet that features two large refrigerated drawers and finally the steps up to the pilothouse and steps down for direct access to the mid-ship master cabin.

The three cabin, three head accommodations are accessed primarily from the staircase on the starboard side of the pilothouse or alternatively from the direct salon access to the master stateroom. Descending from the pilothouse lands you in the accommodations lobby. Here you will find the full-beam en-suite mid-ship master stateroom to aft, a work-out room to port, and a VIP guest stateroom at the forward peak.  Each cabin has a dedicated ensuite head and shower. A full-sized Bosch washer & separate outboard-venting dryer can be found within the accommodations lobby just forward of the master stateroom. The hallway offers extensive storage with four full-height cabinets and the floor of the lobby lifts to reveal a machinery space that provides access to additional onboard equipment.

The mid-ship master stateroom takes full advantage of the full 21’5” beam and features a king sized island berth with a custom mattress. This arrangement allows for access from either side and the berth is equipped with a hydraulic lift that can be raised to access a large storage cavity underneath, perfect for storing extra bed linens or keeping valuables out of sight. Nightstands equipped with drawers are situated to each side of the king berth and a large mirror faces the berth from the forward bulkhead. Port holes offering natural light and expansive dressers/bureaus are found at either side of the stateroom. Further storage is provided by the cabin’s wardrobe/hanging locker to port-aft and the walk-in closet at the starboard forward corner. Finally, to the port side of the stateroom provides access to the en-suite master head.

The master and both guest heads are exceptionally spacious with generous glass and stainless steel shower enclosures. Quartzite countertops compliment the matching floor in the one piece molded fiberglass shower stalls. Most of the heads onboard feature chrome sink and shower fixtures. Storage can be found through mirrored medicine cabinets, as well as teak cabinetry above and below the counter tops of the each head.

The VIP stateroom to forward is composed of a queen sized island berth with a custom mattress and is surrounded by shelves, cabinets, drawers, and a hanging locker on both port and starboard sides. Similar to the island berth in the master stateroom, this arrangement allows for ease of access from either side and the entire berth can be raised with a hydraulic lift to access a storage cavity underneath. Over head is a skylight / escape hatch which, in addition to portholes to either side, provides natural light to the cabin.  The en-suite head for the forward cabin can be found to starboard.

A third cabin is located to port and, like the rest of the cabins, is accessed from the accommodations lobby. This unique cabin is designed as a work-out room featuring plenty of space for a stationary bike or other exercise equipment and comes equipped with two wall mounted TVs for exercise entertainment. This cabin can still be converted into a two bunk stateroom when needed with both a pull-man berth and pipe-berth hidden at the aft bulkhead. The work-out room includes direct access to its own dedicated head to forward.

This Fleming 78 also features crew quarters below deck—more details in Crew Quarters section.

The Fleming 78, as with all Flemings, features a dedicated pilothouse which takes the role as the primary location to control the boat without any distractions from other onboard activities. However, it remains only a few short steps up from the salon & galley and it is only a short flight of interior steps up to the flybridge.

Visibility forward and wrapping around to port and starboard is excellent. Below the expansive windshield are specially designed removable consoles which provide ample room for a full range of modern electronics and equipment. Overhead consoles provide additional space for instruments and speakers. Engine displays, electrical breakers, fuel management, and other on board systems are handled through the integrated Boning ship monitoring system.

To the aft port side is a raised corner settee with a teak table providing a comfortable social or dining area with phenomenal visibility while underway. A day head can be found at the starboard side of the pilothouse, to aft. Meanwhile, steps down to the accommodations are found at the forward starboard corner of the pilothouse, just adjacent to the console. To each side of the pilothouse is a sliding door that provides access to the walk-around side decks of the Portuguese bridge. A large stainless steel and teak-accented destroyer wheel and an black Ultraleather Stidd bench seat in the center finish off the pilothouse of this ultimate cruising yacht.

It features two Stidd bench seats at either side of the flybridge which provide excellent visibility, particularly in close quarters and bustling harbors with its 360 degree view. The flybridge helm to port includes an electronics console large enough to house an array of state of the art equipment, featuring  two navigation monitors plus the Boning monitor arrangement. Additional engine and thruster controls are found at the starboard bench seat. Stepping down from the helm level is a social area featuring a large wrap-around Ultraleather Promessa outdoor settee with a mounted quartzite table to starboard. Port side has a flybridge bar and plenty of countertop space. This quartzite topped bar includes a stainless steel sink, two Isotherm mini-fridges, and a Isotherm icemaker. At the aft end of the flybridge bar is a counter-mounted Kenyon Texan electric grill made of marine grade stainless steel, making it weather and rust proof. This grill can pre-heat to 500 degrees in less than 7 minutes providing safe flame-free and no-smoke grilling at the flybridge. The quartzite at the flybridge level is all comprised of Dolce Vita Brazilian quartzite.

Overhead, two offset hardtops give coverage to the flybridge deck and are held up by the radar arch and stainless steel supports. The forward hardtop and arch in turn supports the custom hinged carbon fiber mast, domes, open arrays, and other instrumentation.

Both the flybridge and boat deck feature nonskid surfaces. Moving aft to the boat deck brings a Kenyon Texan grill and cockpit hatch to port. Centered on the boat deck is the tender and davit. This arrangement allows for launching of the tender from either side or even from stern. A stainless steel handrail wraps along the edges of the boat deck and future kayaks or paddleboards can still find a potential home with the enormous amount of free deck space still available.

In common with all Flemings, the hull is hand laid and solid fiberglass reinforced with a grid of stringers and frames. The integrated swim platform extends the waterline which adds to the overall length of the semi-displacement hull for a smoother ride. Vinylester resin, which is used on the cabin sides, is also utilized below the waterline on the hull with further protection provided by epoxy barrier coats. A reasonable five foot draft allows for Bahamas cruising while ensuring that the running gear is protected by a full-length keel which is foam filled and glassed across the top to isolate it from the hull. This keel gives nearly a foot length of protection until reaching the running gear. Onboard, all exterior decks are comprised of natural teak with gray caulking, along with Burrwood teak cap rails and coaming boards accenting the bulwarks throughout. The entire vessel is maintained with ceramic coating which, in combination with spot-free water, makes cleaning the exterior faster and easier than ever.

On deck she has the familiar walk-around decks found on all Fleming models. In combination with high bulwarks, a Portuguese bridge, and full length handrails along the inboard house: security for both children and pets is ensured. The capacious cockpit includes a California deck sporting a large settee with a Dolce Vita Brazilian quartzite stone table designed to have freestanding chairs utilized for seating on the inboard side. At the center of the cockpit deck is a wide lockable hatch equipped with a hydraulic lift that allows extensive access to lazarette storage cavity below. Each aft corner of the cockpit has a raised platform with warping winches and the transom features a large gate that swings in to allow ingress to the integrated swim platform. Engine room access to found to the port side, up by the port aft pilaster, via lockable door. Additional cockpit storage for cleaning supplies is located along the outer California deck with gas assist struts to lift the fiberglass hatches. To the starboard aft corner of the outer California deck is the aft cockpit control station featuring engine and thruster controls hidden behind a fiberglass cover.

Moving forward along the side decks you will discover entry gates on each side. These gates provide lower entry close to the water line, meanwhile additional gates on either side of the raised Portuguese bridge give the option for a higher point of entry. The Portuguese bridge provides great dock line storage through hatches along the interior. Up to the bow will bring you to the teak foredeck which incorporates a raised fiberglass non-skid section at the center. Special attention has been paid to the ease and safety in which the heavy duty ground tackle is set and retrieved. The anchor platform accepts two anchors with two windlasses, each of which can be controlled by a handheld unit at the platform or by windlass controls at both the pilothouse and flybridge helm stations.

Superior systems and engineering are key elements for Fleming Yachts, whose philosophy has always been to choose only the best equipment available and have it be readily accessible for maintenance. The 78 provides more headroom below the deck, allowing for a true standup engine room which gives plenty of room to service the twin 1550 horsepower MAN V-12 diesel engines. The main engine room access is from an outside lockable door along the port side.  To achieve the extremely low sound and vibration that Flemings are known for, Aqua-Drive systems transfer the thrust directly to the hull and the engine is isolated by using soft engine mounts.

The lazarette found beneath the cockpit hydraulic hatch houses the water tanks and steering gear while also leaving room for additional storage opportunities. Further mechanical equipment is housed with the machinery room located to forward of the engine room. This machinery room is access by a large hatch found at the floor of the accommodation lobby. Much like with the engine room, all components and equipment within this below deck room are very easily reached and serviceable.

A wall-mounted TV, along with a Boning monitoring screen, are equipped at the forward end of the port crew cabin and a crew wet head to starboard rounds out the quarters.

Light Neutral Décor Details:

  • Traditional teak is finished in a way that causes it to appear more orange than teak in its natural state. An innovative finishing technique was developed for the interior teak in this vessel to have a lighter, more natural appearance
  • All upholstery in the salon and staterooms is neutral off white and upholstery of the outdoor areas is close to Fleming white.
  • Brazilian quartzite Taj Mahal is off white with traces of tan and grey. Used in the galley and salon, it goes well with the natural tone of teak and the salon settees.
  • Brazilian quartzite Dolce Vita is a white that goes with the Fleming White of the exterior and is also appropriate for all heads.
  • The natural stone alabaster sconces in the salon, master and VIP cast a beautiful light as pretty as candle light but a little whiter.
  • These design details combine to provide a fresh, clean, neutral décor.

Fresh & Clean Design Details:

  • Air purification dual system: first filtered to eliminate particles including pollen and dust, then passed by UV light to protect against viruses and bacteria.
  • Arid Bilge System: maintains a constant dry bilge with no bilge water left to linger and cause odor – greatly improving the overall freshness onboard in combination with the Air purification system.
  • Water filtration dual system: first filters, then treats with UV. All interior water is purer than typical bottled water.
  • Brazilian quartzite, a 100% natural stone, is non-porous so it resists contaminants including pollution as well as food and drink absorption. It resists etching (a problem with marble) and is more durable than granite. All galley and salon counters and ensuite bath counters and showers are made of Brazilian quartzite.
  • Upholstery is Ultraleather and Ultratech. These stand up to frequent cleaning (200,000 double rubs), meet Healthier Hospitals Safer Chemical Challenge, and are bleach cleanable.
  • Cabinets are flat-front so they don’t catch dust and are easy to quickly clean.
  • The dryer is vented to the outside.
  • The ceramic coating on the exterior provides a hard durable coating that acts as a barrier to scum, exhaust, stains, oxidation, salt and other contaminants. Cleaning the exterior is faster and easier when the vessel has ceramic coating.
  • Combination of spot-free water and ceramic coating allows one person to wash the boat in four hours.

Lighting:

  • Courtesy lighting throughout exterior decks, side decks, and flybridge provides safe passage around the boat at night
  • Rope lighting surrounding underside of the cockpit coaming boards gives a warm ambient light source to aft
