With elegant exterior lines that give it a timeless appeal paired with exceptional functionality, the Fleming 55 quickly established itself as one of the finest cruising yachts in its class when it was launched in 1986. Many features of the Fleming 55, the first model introduced by Tony Fleming, have become staples in the Fleming lineup; a dedicated pilothouse, low profile design, and fine forward entry. A semi-displacement hull with twin engine power allows for efficient cruising at displacement speeds or the ability to plane and run in the high teens when needed.
It is the low profile of the Fleming 55 which gives it such an attractive overall appearance as well as a low center gravity providing unparalleled stability in even the roughest seas. With wide walk-around side decks sitting just a foot and a half above the waterline, in combination with additional side gates at the raised Portuguese bridge, the Fleming 55 provides easy boarding and docking in nearly any scenario. A reasonable five foot draft allows for Bahamas cruising and features a full-length keel that provides nearly a foot of protection before the running gear.
The 55’s interior features a centerline hallway, a hallmark of the Fleming design, which provides the opportunity to properly appreciate the full length of the vessel from transom to forepeak, and allows the minimal use of steps which are strategically situated. The steps leading to below deck are adjacent to those which access the raised pilothouse. Most 55 Flemings feature a three stateroom and two head arrangement, with a few different layouts allowing for various berth options, office cabins, and other alterations.
The main salon features an L-shaped settee to port, along with a high-low coffee table which can be adjusted to dining height and is easily moved to the spacious cockpit for an alfresco option. A corner cabinet with a retractable TV and space for additional entertainment components is found at the forward starboard corner. Additional seating at the starboard side is found in the form of twin freestanding chairs or even another settee. Many Fleming 55 salons can also feature dry bars, wine coolers, ice makers, and a variety of creative storage options. A fully-equipped galley, designed to allow use when underway, is located on the same level.
While the overall layout of the Fleming 55 has proven so functional that it has remained relatively consistent since its inception – with subtle changes and improvements made with each new hull – the materials, electronics, build techniques, and technology are ever-evolving ensuring that it is built and outfitted with only the most up-to-date systems.
Purchasing a Fleming 55 allows you to reap the benefits of decades of refinement on a vessel which will confidently stand the test of time.

The classic tried & true Fleming 55 layout and styling. The 3-stateroom accommodations here include bunks to starboard, a port side cabin with two twin-sized berths, and a forward en-suite master at the forepeak.
A unique two stateroom layout designed to give both cabins more space and their own dedicated head. A great example Fleming Yacht’s semi-custom nature and the ability to build a boat that fits the needs of the owner.
All Fleming Yachts are semi-custom and vary in design from one hull to the next. The layouts below and virtual tours above are just examples of what is possible onboard a Fleming 55.
