Protecting The Fleming Fleet – Hurricane Preparedness At BYS South

A Fleming yacht being hauled away from our Stuart location during the hurricane season.

The devastating and very active hurricane season has everyone thinking about how to best protect their boats when a storm is on the forecast. As always in these situations, we prepare for the worst and hope for the best. With Dorian originally predicted to hit our Stuart, Florida location, we quickly switched from normal day-to-day operations to executing our hurricane plan for the Fleming yachts left in our care. We had our entire marina of 13 Fleming yachts safely hauled and blocked at a nearby yard within 4 hours. Despite Dorian’s less than expected impact on the South Florida area, we were prepared and are committed to going over and beyond to protect the Fleming fleet for our owners.

Our great relationship with neighboring yards in the area means we are usually the first in line to be hauled out and the first ones put back in the water in these situations.

Additional preparations included tying down canvas covers, securing loose objects, and removing enclosures & bimini tops.

This was the first time our in-water Fleming showroom at our South Florida location has been empty since our grand opening!

Storms are very powerful and unpredictable. While we are proud of our preparedness, in some situations no amount of preparation will prevent loss. Our hearts go out for all of those who were affected by this massive storm.
